MAC Pulls Rodarte Collection

MAC have decided to pull the controversial Rodarte collection, scheduled for release this month. I'm not entirely surprised by this and I don't think anyone else is.

Plenty of bloggers out there have written about this so I won't repeat it. Below are a few posts about the collection in case you're not familiar with it.

London Beauty Queen

What do you think of the collection? Was the promise of donations enough to redeem both MAC and Rodarte?

MAC Holiday Collection 2010

Aptly named A Tartan Tale, MAC's 2010 Holiday Collection features tartan themed and wonderfully stylish packaging, gorgeous wearable colours for Autumn/Winter and as usual; beautiful gift sets any girl (or guy) would be happy to receive.
The collection presents adorable themed shade names like My Highland Honey powder blush and The Faerie Glen lipstick.

Givenchy Blooming Collection

Launching this month is Givenchy's Blooming Collection for Autumn/Winter 2010. I'm adoring the visuals. Combining fresh pinks with deep blues, this collection gives a lovely, refreshing take on A/W against the upcoming season's usual darker shades.

August Wins & Fails

So I think I'm going to start doing these favourites slash regrets posts. I like to be with the in crowd yanno?

WIN:

Models Own polishes - beautiful formulation, great staying power.
Pantene Aqua Light shampoo & conditioner - really is super light and a delight to use.
MUA MakeUp Academy makeup - bargain and beautiful pigmentation.
Swaps! - need I say more? Well...I have.
MAC Humid eyeshadow - a perfect shade to transition into autumn/winter makeup.

FAIL:

Maybelline Dream Mousse eyeshadows - next to no pigmentation, difficult to work with.
Barry M body glitter - falls off within 3 seconds of applying it. Don't ask why I decided to wear body glitter...
Clinique Superfit foundation - broke...me...out...looks lovely on though!

What are your wins and fails?

(Mostly) A Brush Haul

I picked up a few brushes today as well as an adorable pair of earrings and Grease Lightning from Lush.

Photobucket

Serious breakout going on in the chin area and I'd given the last of my beloved Grease Lightning to John's little brother to try out so I layered on the slap and headed out to buy some more. I really do feel this works. Within one day my blemishes are significantly reduced in size and day two leaves a colourless bump on my skin - much easier to conceal than a huge red beast.

Photobucket

The earrings...are lovely. I like cute little things like this. On top of that, they were cheeeap! A couple quid at Primark. They have a ton of statement jewellery in at the moment so go and have a look, fill your basket and play dress up when you get home!

Photobucket

These two Shu Uemura brushes are lovely and soft. The number 14 (synthetic) brush is like many Shu brushes; multi purpose. It's described as being a foundation brush. It's a little small for me as a foundation brush but is the perfect size for concealing large areas or getting into the little nooks and crannies of your face with foundation. The number 17 (pony/squirrel hair) brush is the perfect brush for highlighting. It distributes product beautifully and diffuses it for a natural glow. I haven't used it for any cream products yet but I'm sure I'll get round to it.

The MAC 189 is a large foundation brush with synthetic fibers. I have the 190 and it's too small for me. I like a quick application and this allows me to do that. Flawlessly. As you'd expect, it's soft and perfectly formed for both powder and cream/liquid application. I'm really looking forward to using this more.

Photobucket

The eos lip balm that I got sent in my swap - in love! Couldn't have come at a more perfect time either as I've just lost my Lush lip balm and my Lizzy Arden 8 Hour Cream is a little heavy considering the humidity at the moment.

This is how NOT to bake cookies. Thanks John.

I also picked up a bunch of gifts so I won't show those but I put in an e.l.f. order today so I'll be posting that as soon as it arrives!

Another one of these things...

Good for passing the time...and making yourself feel better by thinking anyone is actually interested in your life...which they are not...

Hi, my name is: Christina
Never in my life have I been: on heroin
The one person who can drive me nuts is: my mama for being so damn hardheaded sometimes!
High school was: a difficult time but less stressful
When I'm nervous: I crack my knuckles, pee A LOT, drink a lot of water
The last time I cried was: this morning when the postman left.
If I were to get married right now my maid of honor would be: I honestly don't have any really, really close girl friends. So I have no idea. Probably dress my cat up as a chick. He'll do.
My hair is: Medium brown and long
When I was 10: I stole a ton of my brother's porn to sell to my guy friends.
Last Christmas: we didn't do presents because we were struggling. Not this year!
I should be: cleaning the bedroom.
When I look down I see: my boobies!
The happiest recent event was: finding out my ma is doing much better (health wise) this morning!
If I were a character on 'That 70 's Show' I'd be: Jackie
By this time next year: we'll have (hopefully) moved to a new place of our own or back to Hong Kong!
I have a hard time understanding: why people don't think...
There's this girl I know that: doesn't shower for days at a time. We don't speak.
You know I like you when: I make fun of you or am being rude/sarcastic.
If I won an award, the first person I would tell would be: my brother!
Take my advice: and don't fall asleep chewing gum or eating toffee. It's gross and ruins your new haircut.
Something that I really want to buy is: just about everything I see.
If you visited the place I was born: you'd sweat 4 inches off your body and leave in debt.
I plan to visit: CUBA
If you spend the night at my house: you'll always get breakfast in the morning
I'd stop my wedding if: it didn't feel right
The world could do without: damn pigeons
Most recent thing I've bought myself: Nail polish
Most recent thing someone else bought me: MAKEUP! Tons of it! Heart you!
My favorite blonde is: JOHN!
My favorite brunette is: ME!
My middle name is: not public information
This morning I: wanted to sleep because I'd been up all night...again
The animals I would like to see flying besides birds are: Giraffes and Mice...so cute!
Once, at a bar: I got hit in the back of the head with a metal pole. Wanna feel the dent in my skull? It's shexy.
Last night I was: trying to get to sleep! But instead, watched ANTM.
I don't know: anything
A better name for me would be: George.
Tomorrow I am: going back to the Post Office! YAY! (?) then possibly starting some new paintings
Tonight I am: Rushing to do everything I was meant to do today (clean house)
My birthday is: no big deal
I can sing: when I'm on my own

Sonia Kashuk brushes! Love!

Finally, GUMMY BEARS! John and I have already decided I should probably put one packet away...cause I'll shove them all in my mouth at once. No. Joke.

Thank you SO much girl, I love everything you got me and I really hope we can do this again because I really, really enjoyed myself and I hope you did too!
I'll post again when she receives my package and share what I bought for her and why!
